qmeme_1402891486090_246The Cyclones split today’s doubleheader in SI losing Game 1 2-1 in 9 innings & winning Game 2 3-2 in 7 innings. The Cyclones struck out a total of 27 times today.

Game 1

They lost Game 1 by a score of 2-1 in 9 innings. The Cyclones did not look like a team that was ready to play. The team struck out a total of 18 times. The Yankees took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st without getting a hit.  The Cyclones would tie it up in the 3rd on a bases loaded walk to Michael Katz, however the Cyclones would lead the bases stranded.

The score would remain that way until the 9th, which was considered extra innings at that point.  With Edioglis Villasmil, he would walk Collin Slaybaugh, allow Isaias Tejeda to bunt Slaybaugh to 2nd before walking Thairo Estrata. Villasmil would then talk Chris Breen to load the bases before giving up a game ending, bases loaded walk to Ty McFarland for Brooklyn’s 1st loss of the season.

Game 2

The Cyclones would strike out 9 times over the 7 innings, but they would still manage to win. The Yankees took an early 1-0 lead in front of a sparse crowd in the 2nd on an error by Amed Rosario. The Cyclones would get 2 in 4th. Michael Katz got a 2 out double. 2 batters later, Joe Tuschak would single him to 3rd. Jeff Diehl would then hit a ball that would result in a 3 base error, scoting Katz & Tuschak. The Yanks would tie it up in the 5th on double by Austin Aune, scoring Radley Haddad. The Cyclones would score 1 more in the Top of the 6th & that would be it. Michael Katz would reach 1st on a fielding error by 3B Renzo Martini. Michael Bernal would double him in to get the Brooklyn faithful on their feet. Juan Urbina was lights out to get the Save.
