qmeme_1404265930979_686The Brooklyn Cyclones lost their 3rd straight tonight, due to bad pitching by Alberto Baldonado.

Hudson Valley struck first tonight in the Bottom of the 1st. With Alberto Baldonado on the mound, Bralin Jackson led off with a walk. Jace Conrad sacrificed him to 2nd on a bunt. Casey Gillaspie blasted his 3rd home run of the season to give the Renegades a 2-0 lead. Baldonado got out of the inning by getting Mac James to ground out to 3rd & Hunter Lockwood to go down swinging.

The Cyclones quickly bounced back in the Top of the 2nd. With Enderson Franco on the mound Michael Katz led off with a single to center. Michael Bernal flew out, but Tyler Moore hit a single to give Brooklyn 1st & 2nd with 1 out. Jeff Diehl then blasted a 3 run show over the left field wall to give Brooklyn a 3-2 lead. Dimas Ponce continued to struggle at the plate by popping out to SS Alec Sole. William Fulmer hit a 2-out single to center, but Joe Tuschak grounded out to 2nd to end the inning.

After a 1,2,3 inning by Baldonado, Brooklyn would build on their lead. Jhoan Urena hit a 1 out double to center. Katz flew out to center, but moved Urena to 3rd. Bernal singled in Urena to give Brooklyn a 4-2 lead. Franco got out of the inning when Bernal was caught stealing.

Hudson Valley would regain the lead in the Bottom of the 3rd. Alec Sole led off with a walk. Bralin Jackson hit a double off the top of the wall, allowing Sole to score. Baldonado then threw a wild pitch, allowing Jackson to move up to 3rd. Conrad then tripled to center, scoring Jackson and tying the game at 4. After a walk to Gillaspie, Baldonado got Mac James to hit into a 6-4-3 double play, which allowed Conrad to score. Baldonado got out of the inning by getting Lockwood to pop out to short.

That would be all for Baldonado, but Brandon Welch, who came in to pitch in the Bottom of the 4th did no better. Welch gave up a leadoff walk to Coty Blanchard. Blanchard stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on a single by Elias Torres. Torres stole 2nd to break a double play. Wilmer Dominguez grounded out to 2nd, allowing Blanchard to score & Elias Torres to move to 3rd. Had William Fulmer checked the runners, neither would have advanced. Alec Sole hit a fly ball to Bernal, scoring Torres and giving the Gades a 7-4 lead. Jackson grounded out to end the inning.

Brooklyn did strike back in the Top of the 5th. Tomas Nido & Jhoan Urena hit back to back singles, giving Brooklyn 1st & 3rd. Katz hit a sac fly to center, scoring Nido. Bernal doubled to score Urena and knocking Enderson Franco out of the game. Isaac Gil got out of the inning by getting Moore to go down swinging.

Hudson Valley got one more across in the 8th. With Kelly Secrest on the mound, Blanchard hit a 2 out single, followed by a Torres walk. Dominguez singled to right after the ball deflected off the glove of Diehl. Blanchard scored, but Torres was gunned down at 3rd to end the inning.

Brooklyn was unable to produce a baserunner in the 9th. They now drop to 11-7 on the season, 2 games behind Hudson Valley. The Cyclones & Renegades faceoff tomorrow at MCU Park. It’s $10 Ticket Wednesday & all fans will receive a collectable All Star Game Cup.
