qmeme_1405095292917_405The Brooklyn Cyclones fell to the State College Spikes last night by a score of 4-1.

The Spikes took an early lead off Casey Meisner in the Bottom of the 2nd, thanks to a leadoff double by Nick Thompson, followed by a single by Jake Stone that drove him in. State College would add more in the Bottom of the 5th. Darren Seferina led off with a single to center, but during the next at bat, he was picked off. Robelys Reyes tripled to center and scored on a sacrifice fly by Danny Diekroeger. Alex De Leon singled to left and that was all for Meisner, as Mike Hepple was brought in to replace him. Roman Wick hit a double off Hepple to score De Leon & Nick Thompson singled in Wick to give the Spikes a 4-0 lead.

Brooklyn finally got a run across in the Top of the 8th, thanks to a leadoff triple by Tyler Moore, who scored 2 at bats later on a groundout by Tomas Nido. Brooklyn was held to only 2 hits on the night.

The Cyclones fall to 15-12 on the season, 5 games behind Hudson Valley. They play 1 more against State College tonight before heading to Norwich, CT to take on the Tigers.



  • The Cyclones struck out 12 times last night, bringing the season total to a NY – Penn League high of 261.
  • Dimas Ponce missed his 5th straight game since being hit by a pitch on Monday night in Game 1 of the doubleheader.
  • Jonathan Leroux was added to the Cyclones roster. Leroux, an outfielder, began the season with the Savannah Sand Gnats.
  • Cyclones STH Brian Mastro, a Penn State student, attended the game last night.
