qmeme_1406124231285_954The Cyclones 3-game winning streak was snapped last night during the 1st of 2 games in Aberdeen, as they lose a heartbreaker 7-6.

The Cyclones took an early lead in the Top of the 3rd. Will Fulmer hit a one-out single to right off Ironbirds starter Stephen Tarpley. Adrian Abreu hit a double to right, sending Fulmer to 3rd. Amed Rosario reached on an infield single, allowing Fulmer to score and Abreu to go to 3rd. Jhoan Urena hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Abreu. Michael Conforto went down looking, but the Cyclones had a 2-0 lead.

As has been the case so often this season, Cyclones starting pitching gives the lead right back. Aberdeen quickly struck back in the Bottom of the 3rd, thanks to a homerun by Jamill Moquete off Brandon Welch. After getting Steve Wilkerson to ground out, Welch gave up a double to Jay Gonzalez. Oswill Lartiguez grounded out, moving Gonzalez to 3rd. Austin Anderson walked. Alex Murphy singled to left, scoring Gonzalez. Welch got Hector Veloz to strike out swinging, but the lead was blown.

The Ironbirds would take the lead in the Bottom of the 5th off Alberto Baldonado, who came in to pitch at the start of the 4th. Anderson hit a 1-out triple to center. Murphy singled to right, scoring Anderson. Veloz singled to right & Murphy went to 3rd on an error by RF Michael Bernal. Riley Palmer singled to right, scoring Murphy scores and moving Veloz to 3rd. With the Cyclones down 4-2, Cameron Griffin came in for Baldonado. Justin Viele singled on a ground ball to Griffin, allowing Veloz to score, and moving Palmer to 2nd. Jamill Moquete went down swinging. Steve Wilkerson singled to left, scoring Palmer & Viele. Jay Gonzalez grounded out to 3rd to end the inning, but the Cyclones found themselves down 7-2.

The Cyclones would finally fight back in the Top of the 8th. With Josh Walker on the mound for the Birds, Tucker Tharp singled to center, followed by a fly out by Fulmer. Abreu singled to right, moving Tharp to 2nd. Rosario singled to left, scoring Tharp and moving Abreu to 2rd. Urena singled to right, scoring Abreu and moving Rosario to 3rd. Conforto grounded out, but scored Rosario and moved Urena to 2nd. Michael Katz grounded out to end the inning, but the Cyclones had cut the deficit to 2.

Brooklyn would threaten to take the lead away in the Top of the 9th. Ivan Hernandez came in to get the save. Tomas Nido singled to center. Bernal flew out and Tharp went down looking. Fulmer singled to short & Nido went to 3rd on the throwing error. Abreu reached on an error, allowing Nido to score and the tying run was on 2nd. Tom Gamboa sent Anthony Chavez to run for Fulmer. However, the win streak would not continue, as Rosario struck out swinging to end the game.

The Cyclones fall to 18-20 on the season. With the SI Yankees losing, they still remain 2 games back in the Wild Card race.
