qmeme_1406298484527_169The Brooklyn Cyclones took the 1st game of their 3 game homestand vs the Vermont Lake Monsters in front of a good crowd on hand to get their I ❤ BKLYN jerseys.

Brooklyn took an early lead in the bottom of the 1st. With Jose Torres on the mound for the Lake Monsters, Amed Rosario reached on an error by 1B John Nogowski and went to 2nd on the bad throw. He scored on a single by Jhoan Urena to make it 1-0. Michael Bernal led off the Bottom of the 2nd with his 4th homer of the year to make it 2-0. Brooklyn added one more in the Bottom of the 3rd. Amed Rosario led off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jhoan Urena.

The Lake Monsters finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 5th off starter Scarlyn Reyes John Nogowski hit a 1 out single to center and Yairo Munoz hit a 2 run shot to make it 3-2.

The Cyclones sealed the game in the bottom of the 7th. With Mike Fagan on the mound, Tomas Nido led off with a walk. Michael Bernal singled to right, moving Nido to 3rd. Will Fulmer hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Nido. Tucker Tharp hit a single, moving Bernal to 3rd. Adrian Abreu singled to center, scoring Bernal, moving Tharp to 3rd. Abreu went to 2nd on the throw. Amed Rosario flew out to left for out #2. Urena was intentionally walked. A passed ball allowed Tharp to scores, Abreu to advance to 3rd and move Urena to 2nd. On a pickoff of 2nd, Abreu stole home to make it 7-2. Michael Conforto walked, which ended the night for Mike Fagan. Fernand Cruzado came in and got Michael Katz to fly out.

Aside from the 2-run homer, Scarlyn Reyes pitched very well. Josh Prevost pitched 2 scoreless innings, followed by shutout innings from Kelly Secrest & Paul Paez to send the crowd of 4,883 home happy. The Cyclones are now 19-21 on the season, still 2 game out of the lead for the Wild Card.



  • Dave LaRoche made his MCU Park debut as Interim Pitching Coach last night. He wore #30. Minor League Pitching Coordinator Ron Romanick was at the game along with Minor League Infield Coordinator Kevin Morgan. Edgardo Alfonzo was not at last night’s game.
  • Joe Tuschak and Jeff Diehl both missed their 7th straight game due to injuries.
  • Luis Arrizurieta is no longer on the roster. No announcement has been made on if he was sent up or down.
