Vermont took an early lead in the Top of the 2nd. With one out and Octavio Acosta on the hill for the Cyclones, Seong-min Kim, Dayton Alexander & Brett Vertigan hit back-to-back-to-back singles. Gabriel Santana grounded out to 2nd to score Kim and that would be all, as Yairo Munoz grounded out to shortstop to leave two men in scoring position.

The Cyclones easily tied in up in the Bottom of the 3rd off Lake Monsters starter Cristhian Perez thanks to a 2 out walk to Jhoan Urena, who scored on the next at bat, courtest of Michael Conforto’s 4th double of the season. The Cyclones added one more in the Bottom of the 4th. Tyler Moore & Michael Bernal led off with back to back singles. Dimas Ponce hit a sacrifice bunt to move them up a base. Tucker Tharp hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Moore to give Brooklyn a 2-1 lead.

Vermont retook the lead in the Top of the 5th. Gabriel Santana hit a bunt single and went to 2nd on a throwing error by Urena. Yairo Munoz grounds out. Scott Masik got hit by pitch & Trent Gilbert whiffed at air. Ryan Huck doubled to left, scoring Santana scores and advancing Masik to 3rd. Octavio Acosta intentionally walked Jose Brizuela. Seong-min Kim singled to right, scoring Masik and Huck scores. Dayton Alexander singled to Conforto, who threw Brizuela out at home to end the inning, but the Cyclones trailed 4-2.

Vermont added an insurance run in the Top of the 7th off Eddie Villasmil. Scott Masik doubled to left and went to 3rd on a passed ball. With Trent Gilbert batting, passed ball by Tomas Nido, Scott Masik to 3rd. After a backwards K to Trent Gilbert, Masik scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-2.

The Cyclones were unable to rally and fell to 19-22 on the season, sending the crowd of 4,962 home upset.

Joe Tuschak (left hamstring strain), Jeff Diehl (oblique strain) Amed Rosario (hip flexor strain) all missed last night’s game.
