sweep1The Cyclones completed their 3 game sweep of the Lowell Spinners this afternoon, beating the Spinners 4-1 at Edward A. LeLacheur Park.

Brooklyn took an early lead in the Top of the 3rd off Kevin McAvoy. Tomas Nido singled to right & went to 2nd on a wild pitch the next at bat. Anthony Chavez reached on an error & went to 2nd. Nido also scored on the play. Joe Tuschak, who made his 1st start since being injured, doubled to score Chavez scores. Amed Rosario grounded out. Ryan Harris came into pitch and got Jhoan Urena to ground out.

The Spinners got 1 back in the Bottom of the 3rd off Cyclones starter Casey Meisner. Danny Mars drew a 1-out walk off Casey Mesiner. Mars stole 2nd & scored 2 batters later on a double by Sam Travis. Jordan Betts flew out to end the inning.

Brooklyn got another 2 runs to the board in the Top of the 6th. Joe Tuschak led off with a walk off Kuehl McEachern. Amed Rosario grounded out, moving Tuschak to 2nd. Urena went down swinging, followed by a Michael Conforto walk. Michael Bernal singles on a ground ball to right, scoring Tuschak and moving Conforto to 3rd. Tyler Moore singled to right, scoring Conforto and moving Bernal to 3rd. The inning came to an end when Will Fulmer was called out on strikes.

The Cyclones pitching did very well today. Meisner pitched 5 innings, giving up only 1 run. Carlos Valdez pitched 2.2 shutout innings. Brandon Welch got an out in the bottom of the 7th & Shane Bay to get his 9th save of the season.

The Cyclones improve to 23-22. This is the 1st time since July 13th they are above .500. They have won 4 straight. They return home tomorrow for a 6 game homestand. Check out what’s on schedule HERE
