Auburn got things rolling in the Top of the 2nd. With Octavio Acosta on the mound for Brooklyn, Dale Carey & Jeff Garden drew 1-out walks. Osvaldo Abreu singled to left, scoring Carey. LF Michael Conforto got Gardner as he went to 3rd. Abreu went to 2nd on the throw. Clay Williamson was hit by pitch to make it 1st & 2nd with 2 gone. Bryan Mejia singled to right, scoring Abreu, moving Williamson to 3rd. Mejia went to 2nd on the throw. Cutter Dykstra hit the ball to RF Michael Bernal for Out #3, but Bernal dropped the ball, allowing Williamson and Mejia to score, moving Dykstra to 2nd. Acosta got Jose Marmolejos-Diaz to go down looking to end the inning.

Brooklyn struck back in Bottom of the 2nd. Michael Bernal singled to right. Tyler Moore popped out. Will Fulmer singled to right, advancing Bernal to 2nd. Tomas Nido singled to right, scoring Bernal, moving Fulmer to 3rd & allowing Nido to go to 2nd on the throw. Tucker Tharp grounded out to 2nd, scoring Fulmer & moving Nido to 3rd. Abreu flew out to end the inning, as the Cyclones trailed 4-2.

Auburn added more in the Top of the 4th. Williamson singled to right & Mejia reached on a bunt single. Acosta was pulled for Brandon Welch. A wild pitch by Welch sent Williamson to 3rd & Mejia to 2nd. Cutter Dykstra walked. A passed ball by Nido allowed Williamson to score & moved Mejia to 3rd & Dykstra to 2nd. Jose Marmolejos-Diaz doubled to right, scoring Mejia & Dykstra. Raudy Read reached on an infield single, moving Marmolejos-Diaz to 3rd. Austin Davidson grounded into a 4-6 force out, which allowed Marmolejos-Diaz to score. Carey drew a walk. Gardner went down swinging & Abreu flew out to right, but the Cyclones found themselves in a hole trailing 8-2.

Auburn made it a blowout in the Top of the 5th. Williamson drew a walk. Mejia flew out. Dykstra grounds into a 5-4 force out. Marmolejos-Diaz homered to left, making it 10-2. Raudy Read singled to center. Austin Davidson doubled to center, scoring Read. Carey was hit by pitch. A wild pitch by Welch sent Davidson to 3rd & Carey to 2nd. Gardner hit a 3 run shot to the RF bleachers to make it 14-2. Welch got out on the inning by getting Abreu to look at Strike 3.

Brooklyn got one across in the Bottom of the 5th, thanks to a 2-out triple by Rosario, who scored a batter later on a double by Jhoan Urena.

The loss snapped Brooklyn’s 5-game winning streak. With the loss & the Tigers sweeping the Cutters during their twinbill yesterday, the Cyclones are now 1 game out of the wild card lead. The Cyclones face off for the deciding game of the series with Auburn tonight at 7pm. The 1st 2,500 into MCU Park will receive a Gil Hodges bobblehead.
