Connecticut got on the scoreboard in Top of the 1st off starter Marcos Molina. Rashad Brown reached on infield single. Brett Pirtle singled to right, moving Brown to 2nd. Ross Kivett bunted back to the pitcher, making it 2nd & 3rd. A wild pitch allowed Brown to score and moved Pirtle to 3rd. Molina got out of the inning by getting Michael Gerber & Joe Pankake to strike out.
With Josh Heddinger on the hill for the Tigers, John Mora & Amed Rosario led off the game with back-to-back singles. Michael Conforto walked to load the bases. Jhoan Urena drew a walk to make it 1-0. Tyler Moore hit a sac fly to right, scoring Rosario. A wild pitch by made it 2nd & 3rd. Tomas Nido hit a sac fly to score Conforto. That knocked Heddinger out of the game with a 3-1 deficit. Austin Pritcher came in and got Adrian Abreu to pop out.
Brooklyn got another in the bottom of the 3rd, when Rosario tripled to center & Conforto drove him on a sac fly. Brooklyn added another in the bottom of the 4th. Abreu singled to center, moved to 2nd on a sac bunt by Tucker Tharp. Dimas Ponce hit a triple to drive in Abreu. A sac fly by Mora made it 6-1. In the bottom of the 5th, Conforto hit his 1st professional homer to make it 7-1. Brooklyn got one more in the bottom of the 6th. Abreu led off with a single. Tharp reached on an error to make it 1st & 2nd. Dimas Ponce singled to right to load the bases. Mora flew out, but a sac fly by Rosario scored Abreu to make it 8-1.
Marcos Molina pitched 8 great innings & Cameron Griffin pitched a scoreless the 9th to give Brooklyn their 2nd straight win & tied them with the Tigers for the Wild Card lead. They face off against the Tigers at 5pm tomorrow.
