qmeme_1407164822345_471The Cyclones fell to one game back in the Wild Card Race yesterday by falling to the Tigers 5-1.

In the Top of the 2nd, Michael Gerber led off with a single to right against Cyclones starter Alberto Baldonado. Joe Pankake grounded out, moving Gerber to 2nd. Steven Fuentes struck out swinging. Ben Verlander singled to right, scoring Gerber. Franklin Navarro grounded out to end the inning.

Connecticut added another in the Top of the 3rd. Will Maddox reach on an infield single. Rashad Brown grounded out, moving Maddox to 2nd. Brett Pirtle got hit by pitch. Ross Kivett singles on a ground ball to left, loading the bases. A wild pitch by Baldonado score Maddox and moved Pirtle to 3rd & Kivett to 2nd. Gerber pops out to 2nd & Pankake flew out to right.

The Tigers blew it open in the Top of the 4th. Verlander drew a one-out walk. Navarro struck out swinging. Maddox reach on a bunt single. A walk to Brown loaded the bases. Pirtle was hit by pitch again, scoring Verlander. Kivett reaches on a throwing error by Amed Rosario, scoring Brown. With Gerber up, the Tigers attempted a doubles steal. But Rosario threw home to nail Pirtle at the plate.

Brooklyn’s only run came in the Bottom of the 4th thanks to Michael Conforto’s 2nd home run of the season. The Cyclones play one final game against the Tigers tonight.
