qmeme_1408030009683_862The Brooklyn Cyclones and Lowell Spinners split yesterday’s Twinbill at MCU Park with each team winning 3-2


In Game 1, Lowell got on the scoreboard in the Top of the 1st off starter Scarlyn Reyes. Jordan Betts hit a 1-out single to left and went to 2nd on an error by Michael Conforto. Cisco Tellez singled to right, scoring Betts. Jordan Procyshen doubled to left, scoring Tellez. A passed ball sent Procyshen to 3rd. Reyes got out of the jam by getting Mauricio Dubon to ground out.

Lowell added more in the Top of the 2nd. Joseph Monge singled to center. Bryan Hudson went down swinging, but Monge stole 2nd. When Monge stole 3rd a batter later, a throwing error by Adrian Abreu allowed him to score. Reyes struck out David Sopilka, walked Danny Mars & got Raymel Flores to ground out to end the inning.

Brooklyn finally got some runs across in the Bottom of the 6th off Williams Jerez. Amed Rosario led off with a walk. Michael Conforto was hit by pitch. Carlos Pinales came in to pitch. A wild pitch made it 2nd & 3rd. Jhoan Urena grounded out, scoring Rosario and moving Conforto to 3rd. Tomas Nido went down looking, but Michael Bernal singled in Conforto. Abreu popped out to end the inning. The Cyclones would not score the rest of the way and would lose Game 1 by a score of 3-2.


Game 2 was much better for the Cyclones and they even showed it in the Bottom of the 1st. Rosario hit a 1-out double to right off Spinners starter Reed Reilly. Conforto singled him to 3rd. Urena singled to left, scoring Rosario & moving Conforto to 2nd. Reilly got Nido to pop out and Bernal to fly out to end the inning.

Lowell did damage in the Top of the 3rd off Cyclones starter Martires Arias. With 1 out, Raymel Flores reach on a bunt single and went to 2nd on a throwing error by Nido. Mars doubled to right, scoring Flores. Arias got Mike Meyers and Betts to both ground out.

Brooklyn quickly struck back in the Bottom of the 3rd. John Mora reach on a bunt single. A bad pickoff sent him to 2nd. Rosario bunted & got out. Conforto got hit by pitch. Urena popped out. Nido singled to right scoring Mora. Bernal struck out swinging to end the inning with the Cyclones up 2-1.

Lowell tied it up in the Top of the 6th. Mars led off with a single to center. Meyers hit a bunt pop up caught in foul ground by Pedro Perez. Betts reach on an infield single, sending Mars to 3rd. Aneudis Peralta singled to left, scoring Mars & sending Betts to 2nd. Kelly Secrest was called in to pitch and the Spinners sent Dubon to bat for Jordan Procyshen. Dubon singled to right, loading the bases. Secrest got Nick Moore to hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning, but the score was tied at 2-2.

After “Hoisting Da Colors!” Amed Rosario led off the Bottom of the 8th with a single to right. Conforto reached on an error that send Rosario to 3rd. Urena singled to right, scoring Rosario and giving Brooklyn the 3-2 win.

With Staten Island sweeping the Connecticut Tigers during their doubleheader yesterday, the Cyclones are tied with the Tigers.
