The Cyclones completed their 3 game sweep of the Vermont Lake Monsters and won their 5th straight game today.

Vermont got things rolling in the Bottom of the 1st. Yairo Munoz led off with a single. Munoz stole 2nd & went to 3rd on Nido’s throwing error. JP Sportman singled to left, scoring Munoz, Sportman went to 2nd on the throw. Meisner got out of the inning by striking out Jose Brizuela, picking off Sportman at 2nd and getting Ryan Huck to fly out. Vermont added another in the Bottom of the 4th. Max Kuhn led off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Trent Gilbert.

Down 2-0, the Cyclones did a lot of damage in the Top of the 6th off Brett Graves. Tucker Tharp led off with a single. Anthony Chavez singled him to 2nd. John Mora hit a sacrifice bunt that made it 2nd & 3rd. Amed Rosario drew a walk on a wild pitch that sent Tucker home & Chavez to 3rd. Michael Conforto singled to right, scoring Chavez and moving Rosario to 2nd. Jhoan Urena doubled to right scoring Rosario & Conforto. Fernand Cruzado came into pitch. Tomas Nido singled to center, scoring Urena. Cruzado got out of the inning on a strike-em-out-throw-em-out double play involving Tyler Moore & Tomas Nido.

Vermont got one across in the Bottom of the 7th. Ben McQuown reached on an error. After striking out Dayton Alexander & Yairo Munoz, Cameron Griffin was called into pitch. McQuown stole 2nd. Sportman reached on an error, scoring McQuown. Brizuela struck out swinging to end the inning.

Brooklyn made it a non-save situation in the Top of the 8th. Mora reach on a bunt single. Rosario singled to right, moving Mora to 3rd. Conforto hit a sacrifice fly that scored Mora. Urena singled to left, moving Rosario to 2nd. Nido grounded out to make it 2nd & 3rd. Moore singled to center, scoring Rosario, but Urena was tagged out at home.

Meisner pitched 6.2 innings giving up 3 runs, 1 earned & striking out 10. Cameron Griffin pitched a scoreless inning. Kelly Secrest & Brandon Welch each threw 2/3 of an inning. With this win, the Cyclones improve to 35-28 on the season. The Cyclones have won 5 straight and enter the All Star Break leading the NYPL Wild Card over the Connecticut Tigers by a game.
