qmeme_1434849339302_687MCU Park had a capacity crowd on hand to see the Brooklyn Cyclones take on their crosstown rival for the 2015 Home Opener.

The Yankees got on board in the Top of the 2nd, thanks to a 2-out, 2 run homer by Jhalan Jackson that scored Drew Bridges to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead off Cyclones starter Gaby Almonte.

The Cyclones did bounce back in the Bottom of the 2nd. Michael Bernal led off with a double and scored 2 batters later on a wild pitch by Yankees starter Luis Cedeno.

The Baby Bombers blew things wide open in the Top of the 3rd. Jeff Hendrix reached on an error by 2B Vinny Siena. Kyle Holder singled, sending Hendrix to 3rd. Thairo Estrada singled to right, scoring Hendrix and moving Holder to 2nd. Ty McFarland hit a bloop single that sent Holder to 3rd. Estrada went to 2nd on a throw. Jake Hernandez singled past short, scoring Holder, moving Estrada to 3rd & McFarland to 2nd. Drew Bridges singled to left scoring Estrada, moving McFarland & Hernandez up a bag. Jackson doubled to right, scoring McFarland & Hernandez, which moved Bridges to 3rd. Brandon Wagner went down swinging, but a ground out by Griffin Gordon scored Bridges and moved Jackson to 3rd. Hendrix ended the inning he started by grounding out to 2nd. When everyone tallied their messy scorecards, the Yankees led 8-1

The Cyclones would get one across in the Bottom of the 3rd. Enmanuel Zabala & Vinny Siena hit back-to-back singles with 2 outs, and a single by Michael Katz sent Zabala home and got the Katz Korner in Section 16 rocking. The Cyclones would get more in the Bottom of the 5th when Zabala hit a 2-out single to center and went to 2nd on an error by Hendrix. 2 consecutive wild pitches by Cedeno allowed Zabala to make it 8-3.

The score would remain that way the rest of the game, sending the sellout crowd of 7,795 home upset.

This is the Cyclones 1st loss of 2015, as they fall to 1-1. They look to take 2 outta 3 from the Yankees tomorrow at 4pm at RCB Park in Staten Island. 1st pitch for this Father’s Day Matinee is scheduled for 4pm.
