qmeme_1435636070676_853The Cyclones hot bats kept on hitting tonight as they beat the Doubledays 11-4 in front of a crowd of 1,212 at Falcon Park for their 3rd consecutive win.

Branden Kaupe led off the game with a walk off Doubledays starter Joan Baez. Vinny Siena singled, but Kaupe was nailed trying to go to 3rd. Michael Bernal doubled to right moving Siena to 3rd. David Thompson hit a sacrifice fly to score Siena. With Michael Katz up, Bernal stole 3rd. Michael Katz & Jeff Diehl both walked to load the bases. Zach Mathieu singled to center scoring Bernal and Katz & sending Diehl to 2nd. Diehl was caught stealing to end the inning, but the Cyclones had a 3-0 lead.

Matt BlackhamMatthew Blackham took the mound in the Bottom of the 1st for Brooklyn. Blackham gave up 1-out walks to Dalton Dulin & Matthew Page. David Kerian singled to center scoring Dulin & Page. Kerian went to 2nd on an error. Blackham settled down to strike out Jakson Reetz & Kelvin Gutierrez strikes out swinging to keep the game 3-2 in favor of Brooklyn.

Mariano Rivera, son of the Yankee legend, took the mound in the Top of the 2nd for Auburn and got through the inning. The Cyclones finally caused problems for Rivera in the Top of the 4th. Diehl led off with a double and went to 3rd on a groundout by Mathieu. Tucker Tharp grounded out to score Diehl to make it a 4-2 game.

Cody Gunter was called in for Rivera in the Top of the 5th. Siena singled to 3rd and went to 2nd on a throwing error. Bernal hit his 3rd homer of the season to make it 6-2. Thompson popped out, but Katz reached on a strikeout due to a wild pitch. Diehl was hit by pitch and Katz moved to 2nd. A bad pickoff attempt made it 2nd and 3rd, which allowed Katz to score on a single by Mathieu. Tharp reached on an error that score Diehl. Jose Garcia grounded into a force out to make it 1st & 3rd. Kaupe singled to score Mathieu and make it 9-2. Siena flied out to end the 5-run inning.

Michael BernalAuburn would fight back in the Bottom of the 5th. Edwin Lora hit a 1-out double and went to 3rd 2 batters later on a passed ball. Dulin & Page walked to load the bases. Kerian doubled to score Lora and Dulin. That also knocked Blackham out of the game after 4.2 inning pitched, one out shy of being eligible for the win. Blackham gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, along with 4 hits, 4 walks and 9 strikeouts. Gaither Bumgardner came in and got Jakson Reetz to pop out to 2nd to end the inning with the Cyclones up 9-4.

Kevin Mooney came in to pitch the Top of the 6th and immediately gave up triples to Bernal and Thompson to make it 10-4. A sac fly by Katz made it 11-4. The score would stay that way until the end.

Bumgardner pitched 1-1 to get his 2nd win of the season. Ruben Reyes, Chrisitan Mongomery and Corey Taylor eached pitched a scoreless inning to lead the Cyclones to their 3rd straight win.

The Cyclones, who improve to 7-3 finish up their series with Auburn tomorrow night at 7pm.
