qmeme_1435802865246_774The Brooklyn Cyclones bats were hot once again, as they took their 1st trip of the season up to Dutchess Stadium to take on the Hudson Valley Renegades for the 1st game of a 3 game set.

Netanel RamosGreg Maisto was on the mound for the Renegades and for the 3rd straight night, the Cyclones got on the board in the Top of the 1st. Tucker Tharp reached on an error and Alfredo Reyes lined out to right. Michael Bernal walked to send Tharp to 2nd. David Thompson reached on an error to load the bases. Michael Katz drew a walk to score Tharp. Jeff Diehl singled to left to score Bernal. The Cyclones yet again blew another chance to make it a blowout from the start. David Thompson was caught trying to steal home & Zach Mathieu went down swinging to end the inning, but the Cyclones were up 2-0.

Pedro PerezAlfredo Reyes led off the Top of the 3rd with a double, went to 3rd on a single by Bernal and scored on a sacrifice fly by David Thompson to make it 3-0. The Cyclones got two men on base in the Top of the 4th to knock out Maisto, but didn’t score.
In the Top of the 5th, Michael Bernal reached on a 1-out single, went to 2nd on a Wild Pitch by Benton Moss, and scored on a single by David Thompson to make it a 4-0 game.

Natanel Ramos hit his 1st homer of the season in the Top of the 6th that scored Branden Kaupe and knocked Moss out of the game for Tomas Mickelson a batter later.

Tyler Badamo 3With Luis Urena on the mound for Hudson Valley, the Cyclones got one more run in the Top of the 7th, thanks to a pinch-hit homer by Pedro Perez.

The Cyclones pitching was lights out, as starter Tyler Badamo threw 7 shutout innings, giving up just 1 hit and striking out 4. Craig Missigman and Carlos Valdez each threw a shutout inning to keep the Gades bats at bay.

The Cyclones improve to 8-4 on the season, and lead the McNamara Division by 1.5 games over the Staten Island Yankees. They take on the Renegades tomorrow night at MCU Park, with RHP Gaby Almonte (1-0 4.91) taking on RHP Yonny Chirinos (1-0, 0.90). The team will be giving out 1.21 Gigawatt Jerseys courtesy of Pepsi, to kick off a whirlwind week at MCU Park.
