qmeme_1436760340247_433It was a day of ugly baseball, as the Cyclones lost to the Ironbirds 9-3 while tying a franchise record with five errors.

The Cyclones did score once again in the Bottom of the 1st. Vinny Siena drew a 1-out walk. Michael Bernal doubled to left, moving Siena to 3rd. David Thompson hit a sac fly to LF DJ Stewart, scoring Siena. Brandon Brosher hit a double to left, scoring Bernal. Jeff Diehl grounded out to end the inning.

Aberdeen scored in the Top of the 2nd off Cyclones starter Tyler Badamo when Steve Laurino homered to left.

The Ironbirds scored again in the Top of the 3rd. Ricardo Andujar reached on an infield single and went to 2nd on a throwing error by 3B David Thompson. Cedric Mullins homered to right to score Andujar. Drew Turbin singled to center and when Badamo tried to pick him off a batter later, a bad throw allowed Turbin to go all the way to 3rd. DJ Stewart grounded out scoring Turbin. Badamo got out of the inning, but the Ironbirds led 4-2.

Aberdeen extended their lead in the Top of the 5th. Mullins led off with a walk. Turbin went down swinging, but a passed ball sent Mullins to 2nd. Stewart singled to center, moving Mullins to 3rd. Austin Pfeiffer doubled to left, scoring Mullins & moving Stewart to 3rd. Tyler Badamo intentionally walked Steve Laurino to load the bases and set up a double play. Alexander Lee singled to left scoring Stewart & Pfeiffer and moving Laurino to 3rd. Lee was tagged out at 2nd trying to stretch it into a double.

With the ‘Birds up 7-2 Tom Gamboa pulled Tyler Badamo for Nicco Blank. Blank got out of the inning, but ran into trouble in the Top of the 6th. Ricardo Andujar hit a double with 1-out. Mullins walked, and Turbin reached on a bad throw by SS Alfredo Reyes, scoring Andujar and sending Mullins to 3rd. Stewart popped out and Austin Pfeiffer went down looking to end the inning.

Brooklyn had a huge chance Bottom of the 7th off reliever Patrick Baker, but only got 1 run in. Pedro Perez hit a 1-out single to right and moved to 2nd on a groundout by Reyes. Enmanuel Zabala doubled to right, scoring Perez. Siena reached on an error, moving Zabala to 3rd. Siena stole 2nd and Bernal walked, which led to Andrew Elliot coming in to pitch.

With the bases loaded, Thompson popped out to end the inning, with the Cyclones down 9-3. The Cyclones failed to get anything else, giving them their 7th loss of the year.



The Cyclones will close out the stretch with a 11:30 camp day game tomorrow. RHP Gaby Almonte (2-1, 3.22) will face off against RHP Franisco Jimenez (1-3, 5.75).
