qmeme_1437753761753_668The Cyclones will have to wait another year to win a game in Morgantown, as they fell to the West Virginia Black Bears 8-3 last night.

The Black Bears once again got on the scoreboard in the Bottom of the 1st off Cyclones Starter Kevin Canelon. Kevin Newman led off with a triple to left. Ty Moore reached on an error. With Logan Hill up, Moore stole 2nd. Hill went down swinging, but Daniel Arribas walked to load the bases. Maximo Rivera reached on an error, scoring Newman, moving Moore to 3rd & Arribas to 2nd. Chris Harvey went down swinging, but Alexis Bastardo singled to center, scoring Moore & Arribas. A throwing error moved Bastardo to 2nd & Rivera to 3rd. Deybi Garcia grounded out to end the inning, but the cyclones trailed 3-0.

West Virginia got another in the Bottom of the 3rd. Harvey hit a 2-out double to left and Bastardo singled him in to make it 4-0.

GamboaThe Black Bears added another in the Bottom of the 4th. Newman hit a 2-out down to center, went to 3rd on a wild pitch then stole home on a double steal.

The Cyclones got all their scoring done in the Top of the 5th. Zach Mathieu & Enmanuel Zabala led off with back to back singles & Manuel Hilario hit a 3-run homer to drive them in.

The inning ended when David Thompson struck on an automatic strike because he was outside the batter’s box too long. Tom Gamboa came out and argued and was ejected by HP umpire David Martinez. Gamboa then blew his top and did a great Wally Backman by throwing bats and helmets from the dugout.

The Black Bears got another in the Bottom of the 6th. Garcia led off the inning with a walk, & Erik Forgione was hit by a pitch. Newman laid down a bunt, but reliever Craig Missigman got the runner at 3rd. A passed ball made it 2nd & 3rd, and a Moore strikeout that was dropped by C Manuel Hilario and had to be thrown to 1st allowed Forgione to score. Missigman got Hill to ground out to end the inning.

Ruben Reyes came in to pitch the Bottom of the 7th. He gave up a lead off single to Arribas & a double to Rivera to make it 2nd & 3rd. Harvey went down swinging, and Reyes would be pulled for Alex Palsha. A wild pitch scored Arribas & sent Rivera to 3rd. Palsha got Bastardo to ground out, but Rivera scored. The inning ended when Palsha struck out Garcia.

The Cyclones couldn’t muster anymore runs and were swept by the Black Bears. The Cyclones head to Niles, OH to begin a 3-game set with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.
