The Cyclones got their 1st chance to end the losing in the Top of the 2nd. With Leandro Linares on the mound for the Scrappers, Hengelbert Rojas led off with a single. Brandon Brosher & Jose Garcia drew back-to-back walks load the bases. Zach Mathieu continued his horrid offense by going down swinging. Pedro Perez grounded in to a force out that scored Rojas. Tucker Tharp grounded out to end the inning, leaving 2 men on.
Mahoning Valley would get all the runs they needed in the Bottom of the 3rd off Cyclones starter Tyler Badamo. Jack Goihl hit a 1-out single to right. Silento Sayles reached on a bunt single. Willi Castro walked to load the bases. Sam Haggerty singled to right, scoring Goihl, and moving Sayles & Castro up a base each. Ka’ai Tom drew a bases loaded walk to make it 2-0. Emmanuel Tapia singled to right, scoring Castro & Haggerty. Badamo got out of the inning by getting Connor Marabell to hit into a double play.
The Cyclones would add another 2 in the Top of the 5th. Mathieu led off with a double and went to 3rd on a wild pitch. Pedro Perez singled to center & went to 2nd on an error, scoring Mathieu.
Scrappers Manager Travis Fryman came out to pull Linares for Brock Harston. Tharp singled to right, scoring Perez. However, the Cyclones would not do well the rest of the inning as Tharp was caught trying to steal 2nd, Branden Kaupe went down swinging and Vinny Siena flew out.
The Cyclones got runners to 2nd & 3rd in the Top of the 6th, but failed to score. They loaded the bases in the Top of the 7th, but did no better and would not score the rest of the way, as they have now lost 4 straight, giving them a losing road trip.
