qmeme_1437880144105_837The Cyclones snapped their 4 game losing streak tonight at Eastwood Field by defeating the Mahoning Valley Scrappers by a score of 2-1.

The Scrappers loaded the bases in the top of the 1st off Cyclones starter Gaby Almonte, but Almonte got out of the inning by getting Daniel Salters to fly out to center.

After 3 scoreless inning, Brooklyn scored their only runs in the Top of the 4th off Scrappers starter Shao-Ching Chiang. Will Fulmer was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Vinny Siena reached on an error by 2B Mark Mathias. Brandon Brosher walked to load the bases. Hengelbert Rojas hit a sac fly to RF to score Fulmer and move Siena to 3rd. Zach Mathieu hit a sac fly to CF Silento Sayles scoring Siena to make it 2-0. Manuel Hilario lined out to end the inning.

The Cyclones did manage to get runners to 2nd & 3rd in the Top of the 6th off reliever Matt Esparza, but failed to score.

The Scrappers had a leadoff double from Nathan Winfrey to start the Bottom of the 6th. A bunt got him to 3rd, but Almonte got out of the inning, finishing his scoreless night with 5 hits, 3 walks and 5 strikeout.

Johnny Magliozzi came in and pitched a scoreless 7th before running into trouble in the Bottom of the 8th. With David Thompson in to play 3B for Fulmer, Ka’ai Tom reached on an error by LF Ozzie Caraballo. A wild pitch sent Tom to 2nd, and a Mathias ground out 2nd Tom to 3rd. Nathan Winfrey hit a sac fly to center to score Tom. Magliozzi got Connor Marabell to ground out to end the inning.

Alex Palsha came in to pitch the Bottom of the 9th. Salters led off with a single and Sam Haggerty bunted him to 2nd. Jodd Carter came in to run for Salters and a wild pitch send him to 3rd. With the tying run 90 feet away, Austin Fisher grounded out to Alfredo Reyes and Silento Sayles went down swinging to give Brooklyn theIr 1st win in days.


The Cyclones will finish up their road trip with a 4:05 game tomorrow.RHP Andrew Church (1-0, 1.38) will face off against RHP Casey Shane (0-2, 3.81)
