qmeme_1438959424581_792The injury bug has hit the Cyclones hard this season, particularly the pitching staff, leading Tom Gamboa to call on 2 fielder’s to pitch.
Here is an update on the team, courtesy of the Brooklyn Cyclones Game Notes.

Blake Taylor

Blake Taylor

The left hander had an injury to hit left elbow and had Tommy John Surgery on July 30th.

As with all pitchers to get Tommy John Surgery, Blake will miss the remainder of the season.

Taylor was promoted to Brooklyn on July 5th. In 3 games, 2 of them starts with Brooklyn, Taylor pitched 9 innings, giving up just 1 earned run, to go along with 5 strikeouts. He last pitched on July 21st vs West Virginia.

He will possibly be a Cyclone in 2016.

Jose Celas

The right hander has been recovering from a shoulder injury.

He last pitched on July 5th (Seinfeld Night) and has been battling soreness in his right shoulder.

Celas has only appeared in 3 games all year, 2 of them starts, posting an ERA of 2.70 over 10 innings pitched. He gave up 16 walks so far this season.

The good news is, Celas has resumed baseball activity and is now listed as Day-to-Day.

Matt Blackham

Matt Blackham

Blackham has not pitched since July 22nd in West Virginia. He was pulled from the game in the 2nd inning.

He is recovering from a right hip contusion. However, he has also been dealing with tightness in his lower back, which has been keeping him from playing.

On the season, Blackham has started 6 games for the Cyclones, posting an ERA of 2.90 in 30.2 innings pitched.
