qmeme_1440596102694_836The Cyclones got a much needed win last night at Dutchess Stadium and were helped by Kevin Canelon who not only pitched a great game, but also gave the bullpen another night off.

Both teams would not score a run through 6. Brenton Moss came in to pitch the Top of the 7th and ran into trouble. Vinny Siena led off with a single. Jeff Diehl flew out for the 1st out. Siena stole 2nd base with Zach Mathieu up. Mathieu would ground out for the 2nd out. Jose Garcia singled to left, scoring Siena and Garcia went to 2nd on a throwing error by 3B Alex Schmidt. Brandon Brosher was hit by pitch, but Enmanuel Zabala grounded out to end the inning.

The Cyclones would widen their lead in the Top of the 8th. Hengelbert Rojas led off with a single to center. Alfredo Reyes hit a sac sacrifice that moved Rojas to 2nd. A wild pitch sent Rojas to 3rd. Branden Kaupe hit the ball to SS Michael Russell who misplayed it, allowing Rojas to score. Siena grounded out, moving Kaupe to 2nd. Diehl hit a ground-rule double, his 12th double of the year, to left-center, scoring Kaupe. Mathieu struck out swinging to end the inning.

Kevin Canelon threw a gem of a game, giving up just 1 hit through 8 innings and striking out 10 Renegades. His pitch count on the night was 94.

Alex Palsha came in to pitch the Bottom of the 9th and closed the door on Hudson Valley by striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced for his 13th save of the season.

The Cyclones return home of for Sidd Finch Night, as the team will be giving out bobbleheads and wearing special uniforms. It’s a Wednesday night, so all tickets are $10. The gates will open at 5:15 for season ticket holders and 5:30 for everyone else.
