qmeme_1441129079963_680With the season winding down, the Cyclones chances of making the playoffs shrunk as they fell to Tri-City 4-2.

Alfredo Reyes led off the Top of the 1st with a single to right off Tri-City starter Trent Thornton. Vinny Siena flew out, but a groundout by David Thompson moved Reyes to 2nd. Jeff Diehl singled to center, scoring Reyes to make it 1-0. Zach Mathieu whiffed at air to end the inning.

The Cyclones would keep the ValleyCats off the board until the Bottom of the 6th. With Cyclones starter Gaby Almonte in to pitch his 6th inning of the night, Brooks Marlow hit a 1-out single to right and Aaron Mizell drew a walk to make it 1st & 2nd. Johnny Magliozzi came in to pitch and gave up a single to Bobby Wernes to load the bases. Dexture McCall singled to center, scoring Marlow & Mizell and moving Wernes to 3rd. A wild pitch scored Wernes and moved McCall to 2nd. Mags settled down by striking out Kolbey Carpenter, walking Pat Porter & getting Anthony Hermelyn to swing at air.

The Cyclones would fight back in the Top of the 7th. Enmanuel Zabala led off with a single to center. Manuel Hilario hit into a fielder’s choice, getting Zabala at 2nd. Reyes doubled to right, moving Hilario to 3rd. Siena grounded out, scoring Hilario to make it 3-2. The rally ended as Thompson flew out to end the inning.

The ValleyCats would add one more in the Bottom of the 7th. Ballard led off with a single and Johnny Sewald bunted him to 2nd. Marlow popped out, but a single by Mizell scored Ballard. Mizell stole 2nd, but was left there as Wernes grounded out to end the inning.

As usual the Cyclones would not score and lost, inching closer to their 1st losing season.
