qmeme_1466302539415_410If one thought last night’s 20 innings loss at the hands of mismanagement was not a torturous enough game for the loyal Brooklyn Cyclones fan base to endure, they were easily proven wrong tonight.

The Staten Island Yankees pitching staff no-hit the Brooklyn Cyclones in Richmond County Bank Ballpark and the Staten Island Yankees bats managed a walk-off win to improve to 2-0 and the Cyclones falling to 0-2.

Once again, the Cyclones got on the scoreboard in the 1st inning. With Drew Finley on taking the mound for the Baby bombers, Enmanuel Zabala was hit by a pitch and a walk to Dale Burdick moved him to 2nd. Darryl Knight grounded into a force out that nailed Burdick at 2nd but moved Zabala to 3rd. A wild pitch by Finley allowed Zabala to score and moved Knight to 2nd. Brandon Brosher grounded out, advancing Knight to 3rd. Arnaldo Berrios grounded out to end the inning.

Harol Gonzalez took the rubber for Brooklyn, hoping to lead the Cyclones to their first victory of the season. After 3 scoreless innings, he ran into trouble in the Bottom of the 4th. Kane Sweeney hit a 2-out double to right and a single by Timmy Robinson scored Sweeney. Drew Bridges singled to center and went to 2nd on the throw, making it 2nd & 3rd. A walk to Keith Skinner loaded the bases, but Gonzalez got Yonauris Rodriguez to pop out to end the inning.

The score would stay tied at 1-1, as Gonzalez was pulled after a troublesome 5th inning for Bryce Beeler. Beeler threw 4 shutout innings to allow the Cyclones depleted bullpen to rest. Josh Roeder came in for the Top of the 7th and kept the Cyclones bat just as hitless as Finley did. Adrian Almeida came in to pitch the Bottom of the 10th. After striking out Ricardo Ferreira, Dalton Blaser was hit by pitch. A walk to Dom Thompson-Williams and a wild pitch made it 2nd & 3rd. Kane Sweeney knocked a blooper into left to score Blaser and give the Yankees a 2-1 win, and sending the Yankee fans in the Opening Night crowd of 6,307 home happy.

The Cyclones return to MCU Park tomorrow to begin a 3-game set with the Tri-City ValleyCats. It is Father’s Day, so there is a duffle bag giveaway, pregame catch on the field & kids can run the bases after the game. Make sure to look up all the MTA Service Changes to ensure a smooth trip.
