Rob Weiner, a longtime fan of the Brooklyn Cyclones who has been featured as Fan of the Week and as the subject of April Fool’s Satire, will be throwing out the ceremonial First Pitch this Sunday, July 3rd, 2016 when the team re-brands itself as the Coney Island Franks for a game. This promo is in honor of the 100th anniversary of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog’s, and a night to use an alternate name.
This will not be the first time that Rob Weiner will be throwing out the First Pitch at a Brooklyn Cyclones / Coney Island Franks game.
He threw out the First Pitch before a Brooklyn Cyclones game against the Staten Island Yankees on August 30th, 2013 with his father, Maier Weiner.
The Cyclones were hosting Ebbet’s Field 100th Anniversary Night, and Maier had been to Ebbets Field when it stood. Rob, who had raised a lot of money for the Cyclones 5K & was eligible to throw out the First Pitch, decided to do it that night with his father alongside him.
“I am honored to be given this honor once again. It finally pays off to be a Weiner!” said Rob. “Now, all the team has to do is bring back the best promo ever: Weiner Wednesday!”
