qmeme_1468678610665_870It was another tough night for Brooklyn Cyclones fans, as the Cyclones dropped another game to the Lowell Spinners last night.

Merandy Gonzalez took the hill for Brooklyn and ran into trouble in the Top of the 1st. Steven Reveles & Chris Madera led off the game for the Spinners with singles. Tyler Hill grounded into a double play that nailed Madera at 2nd and sent Reveles to 3rd. A wild pitch by Gonzalez allowed Reveles to score. Roldani Baldwin grounded out to end the inning.

The Cyclones continued to waste chances and did so in the Bottom of the 1st off Spinners starter Darwinzon Hernandez. Michael Paez led off with a walk and a ground out by Nick Sergakis moved him to 2nd. Jacob Zanon reached on an infield hit to move Paez to 3rd. Hernandez tried to pick off Zanon, but a bad throw gave Zanon his 10th steal of the season. With two runners in scoring position, Pete Alonso popped out and Colby Woodmansee struck out swinging to end the inning.

Lowell added another in the Top of the 2nd. Jerry Downs was hit by pitch. Tucker Tubbs popped out for the 1st out. Victor Acosta singled to right, moving Downs to 3rd. Carlos Tovar singled to right, scoring Downs and moving Acosta to 2nd. Gonzalez got out of the jam as Isaias Lucena struck out swinging and Tovar was caught stealing 2nd to end the inning.

Brooklyn had another chance in the Bottom of the 2nd. Dan Rizzie led off with a walk, but a ground out by Jabs nailed him at 2nd. Darryl Knight popped up for the 2nd out. A passed ball sent Jabs to 2nd, but Hengelbert Rojas struck out swinging to end the inning.

Lowell continued to add hits in the Top of the 3rd. Madera hit a 1-out single and stole 2nd. However, Gonzalez got Hill & Baldwin to ground out, keeping the Spinners from scoring.

The Cyclones would score all their runs of the night in the Bottom of the 3rd. Paez led off with a double to center and Sergakis reached on an error to make it 1st & 3rd. Jacob Zanon hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Paez. Alonso walked, moving Sergakis to 2nd. Woodmansee grounded out, making it 2nd & 3rd. A double by Rizzie cleared the bases to make it 3-2 Brooklyn. Jabs grounded out to end the inning.

Like so many leads the Cyclones have had this year, it was quickly coughed back up. Downs led off the Top of the 4th with a single. Tubbs drew a walk and a sac bunt by Acosta made it 2nd & 3rd for Lowell with 1 out. Tovar hit a sac fly to right, scoring Downs and moving Tubbs to 3rd. Lucena reached on an infield hit to score Tubbs and make it 4-3 Spinners. Gonzalez struck out Reveles to end the inning.

The Spinners added another in the Top of the 5th, as Madera led off the inning with a homer to left.

The Cyclones loaded the bases in the Bottom of the 6th without getting a hit, and left them loaded.

Lowell widened their lead in the Top of the 8th. With Dillon Becker pitching his 2nd inning of work, Tubbs drew a 1-out walk, Acosta and Tovar singled to load the bases. After striking out Lucena, Reveles hit the ball to Michael Paez at 2B. For the 2nd straight night, Paez committed a huge throwing error, this time allowing Tubbs & Acosta to score, and making it 2nd & 3rd.

The score would remain the same and after Woodmansee struck out to end the game, the Cyclones had themselves a 7-3 loss.
