The Cyclones bats were held to just fell to just 5 hits, setting the stage for a 3-game sweep by the Lowell Spinners, dropping Brooklyn to last place in the McNamara Division.
Lowell got some early hits in the Top of the 1st against Brooklyn starter Nabil Crismatt. Steven Reveles led off the game with a double to left. Chris Madera grounded out, but a single by Tyler Hill moved Reveles to 3rd. Hill did steal 2nd, but Crismatt got out of it by striking out Roldani Baldwin & Jerry Downs.
The Spinners finally a run in during the Top of the 2nd. Victor Acosta hit a single to left and took 2nd on a ground out by Yoan Aybar. Carlos Tovar singled to center, scoring Acosta to make it 1-0. Isaias Lucena grounded into a force out, nailing Tovar at 2nd. A wild pitch sent Lucena to 2nd, but Reveles grounded out to end the inning. An interesting thing happened in the Bottom of the 3rd. Blake Tiberi led off the inning by hitting the ball to 3B Roldani Baldwin. Baldwin had a bad throw to first that landed in the 1st row of Section 16, caught by Howie Kaplan, which sent Tiberi to 2nd. Tiberi hit the ball so hard, it took off some of the covering, as shown in a pic to the side (or below, if you on are on a mobile device.
Crismatt gave up a homer to Hill in the Top of the 6th to make it 2-0.Adam Atkins came in to pitch a very long Top of the 7th. Aybar hit the ball back to Atkins, who made a bad throw, sending Aybar to 2nd. Atkins would get Tovar to ground out, walk Lucena and strike out Reveles before giving up a hit to Madera which scored Aybar and sent Lucena to 2nd. Hill got hit by a pitch to load the bases. Baldwin hit the ball to short, but beat the throw, driving in a run. Atkins got out of the inning by striking out Downs.
The Cyclones offense produced nothing on the night, and the team fell 4-0.
The Cyclones head up to Hudson Valley for a 3-game set. RHP Erik Manoah (2-1, 5.33) will open the series against LHP Travis Ott (2-0, 0.00). The game is set for 5:05 PM at Dutchess Stadium.
