Following tonight’s sweep of the Staten Island Yankees, the New York Mets promoted RHP Raul Jacobson to the Columbia Fireflies. Jacobson started tonight’s game, throwing 5 shutout innings, including 4 strikeouts while giving up 2 hits.
Jacobson attended the University of California – Davis and signed with the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League before being picked up by the Mets last summer.
After playing with the GCL Mets, Jacobson was promoted to Brooklyn. Jacobson appeared in 3 games for the Cyclones in 2015, going throwing 13 innings, giving up 5 runs, 3 earned, and striking out 12 while posting an ERA of 2.08. He returned for 2016, where he piggybacked Erik Manoah.
For the 2016 season, Jacobson was 1-1 with 2 saves in 7 games. He posted an ERA of 2.16 with 26 strikeouts and holding batters to a .196 average against him.
Kyle Regnault, who was on rehab assignment with the Brooklyn Cyclones, has been reassigned to the Binghamton Mets.
Regnault appeared in 3 games with Brooklyn, earning the win on Saturday for a shutout inning, throwing 0.2 scoreless innings on Sunday & throwing a scoreless inning in Game 1 tonight to earn the save. He struck out 4 batters in his 3 games in Brooklyn.
Prior to tonight’s games, Gabriel Feliz was sent back from the Columbia Fireflies to the Brooklyn Cyclones.
Feliz was promoted to the Fireflies on July 16th and appeared in 2 games with Columbia, throwing 2 scoreless innings, giving up 2 walks and striking out 2.
Feliz will wear #40, which he had before his promotion.
