qmeme_1470276459037_173The Brooklyn Cyclones got a much needed win tonight, as starter Harol Gonzalez showed the people of Wappinger Falls why he should be starting the All Star game there in 13 days through his lights out pitching.

The Cyclones had a chance in the Top of the 1st, as Gene Cone led off the game with a walk.  Michael Paez went down swinging for the 1st out. A wild pitch by starter Eduard Rosillo moved Cone to 2nd and a groundout by Colby Woodmansee moved Cone to 3rd. However, Pete Alonso struck out swinging to end the inning.

Brooklyn wasted another chance in the Top of the 2nd. Desmond Lindsay was hit by pitch to lead off the inning. After Blake Tiberi was called out on strikes, a wild pitch moved Lindsay to 2nd. Jacob Zanon drew a walk and a ground out by Jay Jabs made it 2nd & 3rd. However, Ali Sanchez stuck out swinging to end the inning.

The Cyclones finally got all the runs they would need in the Top of the 3rd.  Cone led off the inning with a single to center. Paez fouled out, but Woodmansee walked, moving Cone to 2nd. Alonso blasted a homer over the wall in left center field near the scoreboard to make it 3-0 in favor of Brooklyn. The inning didn’t end there. Lindsay drew a walk to keep things going. Tiberi went down swinging but a wild pitched moved Lindsay to 2nd. Zanon walked and that would be it for Rosillo, as he was pulled for Jayson McKinley. Jabs, however, flew out to end the inning.

Cyclones starter Harol Gonzalez allowed runners to 1st & 2nd with 2 outs in the Bottom of the 3rd, but got Chris Betts to ground out to end the inning. That would be the most trouble that he would encounter on the night. After Bottom of the 7th, he was pulled from the game for Gary Cornish. Harol ended the night with an impressive pitching line of 7 shutout innings, 4 hits, a walk and 4 strikeouts. Harol dropped his ERA to 1.77 on the season.

Cornish would throw 2 scoreless innings to close out the game, giving him his 1st save of the season and leading Brooklyn to a huge 3-0 win. The victory also the Renegades lead in the McNamara Division down to 2.5 games.
