qmeme_1470405047014_804The Cyclones got another huge win against the Hudson Valley Renegades last night, as they would score 6 runs on only 2 RBIs and knock Hudson Valley out of 1st place in the McNamara Division.

Once again, the Cyclones got on the scoreboard off Renegades starter Brock Burke in the Top of the 1st, as Michael Paez began things by hitting a 1-out double to left. Desmond Lindsay reach on an infield single that scored Paez scores. Desmond Lindsay to 2nd. There were two throwing errors on the play, one on SS Bill Pujols and the other on 1B Nate Lowe. Pete Alonso strikes out swinging for the 2nd out. Colby Woodmansee singled to left, but Lindsay was out at home on the throw, ending the inning with the Cyclones up 1-0.

Merandy Gonzalez got the start for Brooklyn. He would allow 2 runners to reach base in Bottom of the 1st, but a double play corrected that.

To the Top of the 5th it went. With 1-out, Jacob Zanon hits a ground-rule double down the LF line. Zanon would steal 3rd, good for his 20th steal of the season. A single by Paez scored Zanon to make it 2-0. Lindsay drew a walk to moved Paez to 2nd. Alonso grounded out, making it 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs. Burke threw a pitch to Woodmansee that was in the dirt and while C Danny De La Calle looked for it, Paez & Lindsay came around to score. Woodmansee doubled to left and that would be all for Burke, as Deivy Mendez came in to pitch. A wild pitch by Mendez moved Woodmansee to 3rd. He would be left there, as Nick Sergakis popped out to end the inning.

Hudson Valley would finally get on the scoreboard in the Bottom of the 6th. Garrett Whitley singled to 3rd, Lowe singled to left and Jim Haley drew a walk to load the bases. Gonzalez struck out Miles Mastrobuoni and De La Calle, but Strike 3 was a wild pitch, scoring Whitley and sending De La Calle to 1st to keep the bases loaded. Cyclones manager Tom Gamboa had to pull Merandy, as he threw 92 pitches, and summoned in Taylor Henry to get out of the jam. Henry struck out Chris Betts to end the inning, with the score now 4-1.

Porter Clayton came in to pitch the Top of the 7th and immediately gave up a walk to Lindsay. Alonso’s 7th double of the season scored Lindsay to make it 5-1. Woodmansee went down swinging, but Nick Sergakis singled to left, moving Alonso to 3rd. Sergakis was thrown out trying to stretch it. Dan Rizzie drew a walk and Darryl Knight reached on an error by 3B Jim Haley, scoring Alonso and moving Rizzie to 3rd. Clayton struck out Rojas to end the inning.

Now up 6-1, Austin McGeorge came in to pitch the Bottom of the 7th and kept the Renegades from reaching base. He would allow a hit to Lowe before hitting Hayley with 1 out in the Bottom of the 8th, but

With 1 out in the Top of the 9th, Woodmansee doubled to center and moved to 3rd on a ground out by Sergakis, but was left there when Rizzie grounded out to end the inning.

Alejandro Castro came in to pitch the Bottom of the 9th and closed the door on the Renegades, striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced.

The Cyclones will look to sweep tonight and move up the McNamara Division standings. RHP Justin Dunn (1-1, 0.75) will face off against RHP Noel Rodriguez (1-1, 2.77) at 7:00 PM.
