Even though there are still 209 days until it actually happens, the New York University Athletics Department released the 2017 schedule for the Baseball team.
The NYU Violets play their home games at MCU Park in Coney Island. 2017 will mark the 3rd season of the new inception of NYU Violets Baseball. The Violets saw their catcher, CJ Picerni, get drafted by the Washington Nationals is the 2016 MLB Draft.
The current schedule, which is more than likely to change before the season even starts, and most likely will change due to weather, currently has NYU playing 21 total games in on 15 separate dates.
Like last season, the Violets will open up their home games at MCU Park with a March 1st twinbill against John Jay starting at 3:00 PM. They will have 3 home games that weekend, as they host Rutgers Newark on Saturday at 1 PM before hosting a Sunday twinbill against SUNY Canton at noon.
The Violets will return to MCU Park on Thursday, March 23rd for a 3:30 PM game against former tenant St. Joseph’s Brooklyn. Two days later, on Saturday March 25th, Haverford College comes in for a noontime Doubleheader. The Violets will close out March with a 4:00 PM Wednesday game against SUNY Maritime before taking on the CCNY Beavers on Friday at 1:00 PM.
The Violets will then have 2 weekends of UAA games, where they play a Friday game at 3:00 PM, a Saturday doubleheader at noon and a Sunday game at noon. Case Western Reserve University comes in April 7th to 9th & Brandeis comes in April 14th to 16th.
After a 9-day break from MCU Park, the Yeshiva University Macs come in for a Tuesday Twinbill on April 25th at 5:00 PM. The Violets will play their final home game of the season the following Tuesday against the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 4:00 PM on May 2nd.
For those who want to take in a Violets game, the cost of admission is $5 and free to all those with a NYU Student, Staff, Faculty or Alumni Card. The gates generally open 1 hour before 1st pitch.
