The 2016 New York Penn League All Star Game rosters were released today and 3 members of the Brooklyn Cyclones were selected to the South Team. The game will be played next Tuesday, August 16th, at Dutchess Stadium, home of the Hudson Valley Renegades.
Pete Alonso, who is the Cyclones primary 1B, was selected by the Mets in the 2nd round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of the University of Florida.
Alonso is currently tied for the team lead with 4 home runs and and RBI in just 28 games. Alonso is currently batting .300. Alonso also boasts a fielding percentage of 1.000 on the season.
Harol Gonzalez, the ace of the Brooklyn Cyclones pitching staff was selected thanks to his impressive 4-1 record in 9 starts.
The right handed pitcher, who is in his 3rd season with the New York Mets organization, has an amazing ERA of 1.77 and leads the NYPL with 67 strikeouts.
Colby Woodmansee, rounds out the trio of Cyclones heading to the Dutch.
Woodmansee, who is the primary shortstop for the Brooklyn Cyclones, was selected by the Mets in the 5th Round of the 2016 MLB Draft from Arizona State University. Woodmansee enters August 8th with a .273 batting average with 18 RBIs in 44 games.
