After a scoreless 1st inning from Cyclones starter Thomas Szapucki, Kevin Krause, a Staten Island native, led off the Top of the 2nd with a walk and took 2nd on a passed ball. Albert Baur grounded out, moving Krause to 3rd. Ty Moore was hit by pitch. Sandy Santos doubled to center, scoring Krause and moving Moore to 3rd. Hunter Owen drew a walk and Chris Harvey was called out on strikes. Nick King singled, scoring Moore & Santos to make it 3-0. Szapucki got NYC native Stephen Alemais to ground out, ending the inning.

Brooklyn got a run back in the Bottom of the 2nd off Black Bears starter Cam Vieaux. Colby Woodmansee led off with a walk and stole 2nd. Gene Cone struck out swinging, but Ali Sanchez doubled to center, scoring Woodmansee to make it 3-1. Vieaux struck out Blake Tiberi and got Darryl Knight to fly out.

Will Craig led off the Top of the 3rd with a walk. Szapucki struck out Krause and got Baur to hit into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.

Hengelbert Rojas began the Bottom of the 3rd with a single. Jose Reyes finally got a hit with the Cyclones this season, moving Rojas to 2nd. Michael Paez struck out swinging, but Desmond Lindsay blasted a 3-run homer, his 3rd of the season to make it 4-3 Brooklyn. Woodmansee popped out, but Cone reached on an error by Alemais at shortstop. Sanchez singled to right, moving Cone to 3rd. Tiberi singled to left, scoring Cone and moving Sanchez to 2nd. Knight struck out to end the inning, but the Cyclones led 5-3.

Szapucki began the Top of the 4th by hitting Moore with a pitch. Santos struck out and Moore was thrown out stealing and Szapucki struck out Owen to end the inning.

Rojas led off the Bottom of the 4th with a double to right. Reyes lined out to 2nd. Paez flew out, but Lindsay singled to right, scoring Rojas and knocking Vieaux out of the game for Matt Frawley. Woodmansee grounded out to end the inning.

Szapucki struck out all three batters he faced in the Top of the 5th.

With 1 out in the Top of the 6th, Kevin Krause tripled to deep center, ending the night for Szapucki. Taylor Henry came in and allowed Baur to hit a sac fly to right to score Krause before Moore grounded out to end it.

Cone drew a 2-out walk in the Bottom of the 7th. Sanchez singled to right, moving Cone to 3rd. Sanchez took 2nd on defensive indifference before Tiberi walked. Knight singled to left, scoring Cone & Sanchez and moving Tiberi to 3rd. Frawley was pulled from the game for Billy Roth. Rojas singled to right, scoring Tiberi and moving Knight to 3rd. Reyes doubled to center, scoring Knight and moving Rojas to 3rd. Paez walked to load the bases. Lindsay doubled to right, scoring Rojas, Reyes & Paez, giving 7 RBIs on the night, tying Brandon Brosher’s club record set on July 5th, 2015. Woodmansee singled to center, scoring Lindsay and Woodmansee took 3rd on an error. Gene Cone drew a walk, but Ali Sanchez struck out to end the long inning, with Brooklyn up 14-4.

Adam Atkins came in to pitch the Top of the 8th and Nick Sergakis came in for Reyes. Atkins allowed a hit, but kept the Black Bears from scoring.

Dillon Becker came in to pitch the Top of the 9th. Santos hit a 1-out double to center and took 3rd on a wild pitch. Matt Diorio, another native of Staten Island, grounded out. Chris Harvey was hit by pitch and took 2nd on defensive indifference. A wild pitch scored Santos and moved Harvey to 3rd. King reached on an infield hit, scoring Harvey. Alemais doubled to left, scoring King. A wild pitch moved Alemais to 3rd. Becker got Will Craig to ground out, end the game with Brooklyn winning 14-7.
