qmeme_1471746656879_414The Cyclones dropped the series opener to the Lowell Spinners tonight, falling further back in the playoff race.

Harol Gonzalez, fresh off his 9-pitch appearance in the 2016 New York – Penn League All Star Game on Tuesday, got the start for Brooklyn and ran into trouble in the Bottom of the 1st. Matt McLean led off with a single and a sac bunt by C. J. Chatham moved him to 2nd. Tyler Hill flew out, but a double by Tucker Tubbs made it 1-0. Harol got Bobby Dalbec to ground out, ending the inning.

The Spinners struck again in the Bottom of the 4th, as Tubbs led off the inning with his 8th double of the season. Dalbec singled, moving Tubbs to 3rd. Harol got 2 outs, thanks to a strike-him-out, throw-him-out double play that saw Tyler Spoon getting a K and Dalbec out on a CS 2-4. Carlos Tovar singled to center, scoring Tubbs. Tovar was caught trying to steal 2nd, ending the inning.

Andy Perez led off the Bottom of the 5th with a double to left and took 3rd on a fielding error by LF Gene Cone. A sac fly by Chris Madera sent Perez home to make it 3-0. Harol gave up a hit to McLean who would be caught stealing by Ali Sanchez, Chatham walked, but was left there as Hill grounded out.

Anthony Dimino, in his Brooklyn Cyclones debut, led off the Top of the 6th with a double to left off Spinners starter Josh Pennington. Cone drew a walk and the struggling Michael Paez singled to center, scoring Dimino and moving Cone to 2nd. However, the runners would be left on base, as Desmond Lindsay took a called strike 3 and Colby Woodmansee grounded into a 1-6-4 double play to end the inning.

Alejandro Castro came in to pitch the Bottom of the 6th and hit Tubbs with a pitch to get things going. Dalbec doubled to center, and Tubbs was nailed at the plate by Lindsay via Woodmansee. A single by Tyler Spoon made it 1st & 3rd. Tovar grounded into a force out, scoring Dalbec and nailing Spoon out at 2nd. Perez grounded out to end the inning.

The score would remain 4-1 the rest of the way, as the Cyclones were once again held to a low amount of hits.
