It was a great game for those who love to see low scoring, well-pitched games, as the Brooklyn Cyclones scored a single run to beat the Williamsport Crosscutters 1-0. They were helped out by light’s out pitching from their All Star starter, Harol Gonzalez.
The Cyclones had a chance in the Top of the 4th, as Gene Cone & Colby Woodmansee hit back-to-back singles with one out off starter JoJo Romero. Ali Sanchez flew out, but with Brandon Brosher batting, Cone stole 3rd. However, Brosher grounded out to end the inning.
Michael Paez began the Top of the 6th with a ground-rule double down the left-field line. Cone struck out, but a Woodmansee ground out moved Paez to 3rd. Ali Sanchez singled to center, scoring Paez to make it 1-0. Brosher struck out to end the inning.
Harol Gonzalez was once again, light’s out for the Brooklyn Cyclones. He was pulled from the game with one out in the Bottom of the 7th, as he reached 100 pitches on the night. He ended the night with 6.1 shutout innings, and 4 strikeouts, dropping his ERA to 1.57. He did allow 7 hits and a walk.
Alejandro Castro came in and pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning to get a hold.
In the Top of the 9th, Carlos Indriago came in to pitch. He struck out Woodmansee, but allowed Sanchez to reach on a bunt single. Two straight wild pitches by Indriago allowed Sanchez to get to 3rd. Brosher struck out swinging, and Darryl Knight grounded out to end the inning.
Joseph Zanghi pitched a scoreless 2 innings to get his 9th save of the season and give Brooklyn a win.
