qmeme_1472871500046_329Once again, the Brooklyn Cyclones were able to play like a legitimate baseball team, now that the games mean absolutely nothing.

The Cyclones got things going in the Top of the 1st off starter Matthias Dietz. Gene Cone led off the game by striking out. Michael Paez singled to right and stole 2nd. Desmond Lindsay grounded out, but Colby Woodmansee singled to left, scoring Paez. Woodmansee stole 2nd & took 3rd on a throwing error by C Ronald Soto, which allowed Woodmansee to score on a single by Blake Tiberi. Ali Sanchez grounded out to end the inning.

Merandy Gonzalez got the start for Brooklyn and threw three shutout innings before running into trouble in the Bottom of the 4th. Preston Palmeiro, son of Rafael Palmeiro, led off with a double to center. Ryan McKenna lay down a sac bunt that moved Palmeiro to 3rd. Alejandro Juvier grounded, scoring Palmeiro. Gonzalez struck out Irving Ortega to end the inning.

The Cyclones added a run in the Top of the 7th off Yi-Hsiang Lin, as Tiberi doubled to right and a single by Sanchez made it 1st & 3rd. Anthony Dimino grounded out, but scored Tiberi and moved Sanchez to 2nd. Luis Carpio grounded out, moving Sanchez to 3rd, where he stayed, as Jay Jabs grounded out to end the inning with Brooklyn up 3-1.

In the Bottom of the 7th, Merandy Gonzalez was pulled with 2 outs, as he threw 101 pitches of 1-run ball with two hits and 8 strikeouts. Adam Atkins retired Ortega to end the inning.

The Top of the 8th saw the Cyclones hit like they haven’t hit all year. The victim of his sudden outburst of meaningless offense was reliever Daniel Ayers. Cone led off with a single and a double by Paez made it 2nd & 3rd. Lindsay singled, scoring Cone & Paez. Woodmansee walked, movoing Lindsay to 2nd. Tiberi singled to right, scoring Lindsay and sending Woodmansee to 3rd.

Will Shepley was called in to pitch and walked Sanchez to load the bases.Dimino reached on an error by by 2B Alejandro Juvier. This scored Woodmansee & Tiberi and made it 2nd & 3rd. Carpio walks to load the bases and Jabs was hit by pitch, scoring Sanchez. Cone came up again and hit a sac fly to right, scoring Dimino. Paez singled to center, loading the bases.

James Teague came in to pitch and got Lindsay to hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning with Brooklyn up 10-1.

Gabriel Feliz came in and threw a perfect Bottom of the 8th.

The Cyclones added another run in the Top of the 9th, as Tiberi hit a 1-out single to left. Sanchez flew out, but a single by Dimino moved Tiberi to 3rd. Carpio reached on an infield hit, scoring Tiberi and moving Dimino to 2nd. Jabs flew out to end the inning.

Joseph Zanghi came in to pitch the Bottom of the 9th. Chris Clare led off with a single and took 2nd on a wild pitch. Pinch-hitter Collin Woody drew a walk. Seamus Curran grounded out, making it 2nd &3rd. Zanghi got Ryan McKenna & Alejandro Juvier to strike out swinging to end the game.
