The Cyclones fell in Aberdeen last night, as they are simply playing out what is left of the 2016 New York Penn League season.
The game would remain scoreless until the Bottom of the 4th. Cole Billingsley led off with a single and stole 2nd. Austin Hays singled to right, moving Billingsley to 3rd. Preston Palmeiro tripled to right, scoring Billingsley & Hays. A wild pitch by starter Gabriel Llanes scored Palmeiro. Chris Clare grounded out, but Alejandro Juvier doubled to left. Llanes retired Mike Odenwaelder and Jaylen Ferguson to end the inning.
Despite being down 3-0, the Cyclones quickly bounced back in the Top of the 5th off Xavier Borde, who replaced starter Keegan Akin in the 4th. Brandon Brosher led off with a homer over the LF wall to cut the deficit to 2. Gene Cone reached on an infield hit and swiped 2nd. Darryl Knight struck out and Franklin Correa grounded out, but Arnaldo Berrios reached on an error. Michael Paez doubled to right, scoring Cone & Berrios to tie it up. Luis Carpio drew a walk, but Desmond Lindsay lined out to end the inning.
Llanes ran into trouble in the Bottom of the 6th. Hays led off with a double to center. Palmeiro struck out swinging, but a single by Clare moved Hays to 3rd. Juvier doubled to center, scoring Hays and moving Clare to 3rd. That knocked Llanes out of the game for the newest member of the Cyclones: Jordan Humphreys. Odenwaelder grounded out, but scored Clare. Ferguson lined out to end the inning.
With Ryan Moseley pitching the Top of the 8th, Desmond Lindsay drew a 2-out walk and took 2nd on a wild pitch. Colby Woodmansee singled to center to score Lindsay to make it 5-4. Brosher struck out swinging to end the inning.
Austin McGeorge ran into trouble in the Bottom of the 8th, as he loaded the bases, but Alejandro Castro came in and got out of the jam. However, the team went down in order in the Top of the 9th, falling to 35-37 on the season.
