WBC BrooklynThe final game for the World Baseball Classic qualifier is now set, as with last night’s 4-3 win over Team Brazil, Team Great Britain has moved on to the Finals. They will face Team Israel for the final spot in the World Baseball Classic

Former Brooklyn Cyclones pitcher Blake Taylor made his return to the mound of MCU Park. Taylor spent the 2016 baseball season with the Kingsport Mets, as he is coming back from Tommy John Surgery. Taylor got the start for Great Britain and was throwing the heat early on.

After two scoreless innings, Taylor ran into trouble in the Top of the 3rd.

Fernando Luciano led off with a single, but Lucas Rojo grounded into a 4-3 double play. Back-to-back singled by Gabriel Maciel and Irait Chirino made it 1st & 3rd. A wild pitch by Taylor moved Chirino to 2nd, which allowed him to score on a two-run double by Leonardo Reginatto. Reginatto stole 2nd, but Dante Bichette Jr. flew out to end the inning.

Kyle Simmons doubled on a bloop pop-up that couldn’t be caught, moving Young to 3rd. Antoan Richard was hit by pitch to load the bases. Rienzo struck out Jasardo Chisholm and Champ Stuart before hitting Isaacs with a pitch to score Young. Jordan Serena reached on an error that scored Simmons & Richardson, but the inning ended when Isaacs was thrown out at 3rd, giving Great Britain a 3-2 lead.

Reed ran into trouble in the Top of the 9th, as Juan Carlos Muniz hit a 2-out double. Reed was pulled for Daniel Cooper. With Sato up, Muniz was caught trying to steal 3rd, ending the game and giving the British a 4-3 win.
